Reading trend: My

I have discovered that I like to read non-fiction. What's that you say, of course I like non-fiction, I'm a librarian? Well, one might think so, but it is only recently that I have sought out and truly enjoyed reading non-fiction. I admit to being a fiction snob in the past, but all that has changed. I find myself leaning toward books about social media trends, or a how-to photography book and I especially enjoy books on other cultures and traveling.

So, now you want to know some of the titles, don't you? (you know you do, come on!)

Okay here are a few:

On my 'shelf' now:
So there you have it.

P.S. I am reading a piece of fiction too :)

Silver Lining

Well, it's forty below and I don't give a ....

You know the rest of it folks. Here I am in Edmonton, I had a great weekend, but really I wanted to get home on Sunday as I have a short work week, what with Christmas and all and I have such a lot to do. You might think that I should know better than to travel to Alberta in the depth of winter and expect to get home okay. Here's the rub, it isn't the weather in Alberta that is causing the problem (even though it is almost -40 Celsius with the wind chill). In fact, it is the balmy west coast that is being struck by blizzard conditions that is causing the mixed up flying mess I find myself in. Two canceled flights so far and hoping to catch the next flight on time early Monday.

However, here comes the silver lining. Seeing that I am in Edmonton for at least one more day than anticipated, I have been able to get a bunch more visiting in with my very dear friends and family. We have ate fabulous food together, drank delicious wine and played cards and laughed until our sides were sore.

Isn't that fantastic?

What the Hell?

Stoopid Firefox! That is a first folks, me cursing Firefox. But man, oh man has it been hanging me up all day today. It has been a Monday to end all Mondays and Firefox is just the icing on the cake. I had heard from others that the lastest iteration was a bit sucky but I finally downloaded the next version and it has been freezing and loading like f*****g molasses in winter, well winter in cold places anyway.

Argh... Anyone else ... hints, help or just plain commiserate with me?

Tomorrow will be a much better day, I just know it. Oh crap, I forgot to take off the glasses.

Fragility

Today I wish I were as tough as nails...

Ha!

New word, well new phrase really. Okay, new to me. I could keep going on this path but will stop now. What do you think, I like it:

"Jumping the Shark" - refers to a tv show whose plot has veered off course, in what seems to me, a desperate attempt to recall previously good ratings. The Wikipedia article refers to a Happy Days episode where the Fonz is water skiing in a leather jacket and swim shorts and jumps over a shark.

So the article talks about how this phrase has been used to mean something that has peaked and is in decline now.

Other shows that have Jumped the Shark?

24
Lost
Survivor

Hmmm, I am sure there are many more. Thoughts?
